The music of Peter Deunov
HARMONIZED FOR A MIXED CHOIR AND FOR A STRING ENSEMBLE
"The first time I heard these themes, I knew that harmonizing them for a mixed choir was going to be a challenge. These static and secretive melodies had a mystical quality, but were not easily comprehensible in their structure. With time and persistent work they started to reveal themselves, and to my surprise, harmonies and sounds developed and expanded naturally, creating a sacred atmosphere and opening the imagination to the numinous. I slowly let the harmonies come to life, almost as if they needed time to introduce themselves. The melodies developed and settled naturally into the context. Later, I realized that these sounds would expand beautifully through a string orchestra. We modestly worked with 4 violins and 2 cellos and thanks to sound editing, we added richness and expansion to the intimate sound of a string sextet."
“When at the dawn of the Universe the Angels awoke in the heavens, they
started to sing and as they sang, the Creation of the world started.
With a deep understanding of the Divine Laws, the Angels created the Universe under the supreme guidance of the Spirit of God.
And they expressed this grandiose Creation musically. For this reason, in music are hidden the supreme laws of Genesis. They are the laws of the Creative Spirit of Being. The Spirit of God works musically. One can say that music in which the harmony of numbers resounds is a materialised movement of the Spirit.
Consider the First Day as
the Day of Spirit, the Day when the Light first manifested.
The Second Day,
the Day of our Soul, as the Day when Love became manifest.
The Third Day,
the Day of Reason, as the Day when Knowledge first manifested.
The Fourth Day,
the Day of our Heart, as the Day when conscious Life first became manifest.
The Fifth Day,
the Day of our Will-Power, as the Day when all our Forces came together to assist us.
The Sixth Day
as the Day of the Eternal Word which inundated us with its pure Light and established that we were masters of our destiny.
The Seventh Day,
God's Day, He who is the Eternal Origin of all things, as the Day of Nature from which we must learn everything, as our Day of rest that will enable us to consecrate ourselves to the service of all the virtues.”
In the beginning, God created Heaven and Earth. And the Earth was without form and void; it was chaotic. And Darkness was above the void. And Divine Spirit glided over the waters of life. And God said: ‘Let there be the beautiful Videlina.’ And it manifested itself in its light. And God saw that it was good. And God divided the light from the darkness. And God called light Day, and the darkness Night. And it was the evening, and it was the
morning. First Day.
And God said: ‘Let there be a partition in the midst of the waters.’ And God created this space and divided the waters which were below from the waters which were above. And it was done. And God called the upper space Heaven. And it was the evening, and it was the morning. Second Day.
And God said: ‘Let the waters under the Heaven be gathered together.’ And it was so. And dry land appeared. And God called it earth. And the gathering of the waters He called sea. And God spoke and grass was brought forth, yielding seed after its kind, and the tree yielding fruit after its kind. And God saw that it was good. And it was the evening, and it was the morning. Third Day.
And God said: ‘Let there be Light in the Firmament of Heaven.’ And it was so. And God made two great lights: the greater to rule the day and the lesser to rule the night. He made the stars shine in the Firmament of Heaven. And God saw that it was good. And it was the evening, and it was the morning. Fourth Day.
And God said: ‘Let the waters bring forth fish and sea monsters, and fowl that may fly above the Earth under the firmament, all after their kind.’ And it was so. And God saw that it was good. And God blessed them. And it was the evening, and it was the
morning. Fifth Day.
And God said: “Let the Earth bring forth animals and wild beasts after its kind.” And it was so. And God saw that it was good. And God spoke and created man. He created him in His own image, after His likeness. And God blessed him, so that he might have dominion over all that lives on earth, that he may love and protect all creatures in the water, on the earth and in the air. And God said: “I give herbs with their seeds, and the trees with their fruit as food for man.” And God said: “I provide also to wild animals on earth and to birds in the air and to all that crawls on earth and is alive. But man will not shorten their lives.” And God saw that everything He had made was good. And it was the evening, and it was the morning. Sixth Day.
And thus did God create Heaven and Earth and the multitude of creatures that were there. And God blessed the Seventh Day and sanctified it, for He made it a day of rest from all His work. And God saw that all He had done was good. Aoum, Aoum, Aoumen.
“According to the High Initiation that I bring to you, at the beginning there was ‘Videlina’, meaning the first movement that appeared in the Spirit of God in the form of a gushing, a radiation coming from Him. This radiation was His ‘Videlina’, His Aura. Before creating things, God surrounded Himself with a luminous circle, His Aura.
In this luminous circle, He delineated the Universe, its limits, its borders. When the Universe was determined in this way, God projected in His Aura ‘Videlina’, images which permeated it and which materialised, crystallised. It is through God's Aura that all things were created and formed.”
